Nancy and I hung out with Robert last Saturday. I picked him up at his house around 1:00. We learned how to patch the wall he tore up first before leaving around 1:30.
We met Nancy at Crown Candy where we indulged in delicious soda fountain delights. Nancy and I shared a vanilla malt and Robert had a root beer float. We bought giant jawbreakers, rope licorice, and big suckers for Robert's sister Kiyani.
We then decided to go down to the zoo where we hopefully would get to see the balloons take off for the Forest Park balloon race. The park was a madhouse and we couldn't even get into it. Luckily we have our friends Jeff and Holly who live near the park. We parked the cars at their house and after a short lovely chat, we began the walk all the way to the zoo. It had to be well over a mile including the inevitable climb up Art Hill. We got to see a little bit of the zoo before it closed and then we had to walk all the way back.
By this time after the forced march, we were starving. We decided on Dewey's pizza. Robert and I shared a pepperoni and bacon pizza ... Robert's choice. Hey, who am I to object?
Robert slept the whole way back to Alton and upon entering the house proclaimed "I'm going to bed".
We were supposed to paint the drywall patch when we got home, but obviously that will have to wait until next time.
