... what the hell is going on in your head?

Last Sunday was the BBBS Christmas party which was held at SWIC in Granite City. Tina brought both Robert and Kiyani and we met them over there. We actually arrived a little bit before them. Nancy and I walked around looking at all the activities for the kids while we waited. We were on the other side of the room when they arrived. Robert saw us walking in their direction and he ran over to us immediately. He was practically jumping up and down rushing to meet us which made me feel very cool. After the BBBS spokesperson introduced all the staff members on hand and thanked all the people involved, the festivities began. We started off with food which was mainly sandwiches, chips, and cake. Even with all the food, Robert was fascinated with the food in the vending machines. That happened once before at the bowling alley so I don't know what his deal is with vending machines.
After eating, Nancy talked him into making a Christmas ornament with her. We also made a little candy cane lanyard, but the big deal was Santa Claus. We stood in line but Robert was more interested in the gift rather than talking to Santa. I told him to choose wisely and that the biggest gift did not necessarily mean the best gift. He completely disregarded my suggestion and proceeded to pick out the largest gift he could find. It turned out to be the board game Sorry, which he seemed to think was kind of cool. After the gift was opened he decided he wanted to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas. By that time it was too late. While the party was winding down, Kiyani and her Big Sister Nicki did a karaoke version of All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth. Robert wanted no part of singing.

After the Christmas party we drove to Edwardsville. We stopped off at the Petsmart so he could look at the fish, dogs, and cats. He seemed to be very interested in the dogs. We then went to Office Max and both he and Nancy played around with the cameras. After that we went to Steak and Shake to get something to eat.

We'll have to think of something to do this week which may turn out to be Fun Stop in Collinsville. He's been begging me to take him there for weeks.
