Congratulations Rick Hummel
In the bombastic world that is sports today, its good to see the nice guy win one every once in awhile. There are few sportswriters who have covered their beat as long as Mr. Hummel. There are even fewer who have done it that long and managed to still earn the respect of peers, fans, players, coaches, and management. That's because Rick Hummel is a smart man with keen insights into baseball. I'll bet he has keen insights into life that the rest of us don't have a clue about either. He's always willing to lavish praise on those who have earned it. At the same time, he's not afraid to speak up when something is wrong. He does it in a manner that is true criticism, not the name-calling drag you through the mud stuff that so many broadcasters are quick to do today. Congratulations Rick Hummel. Well deserved.
