I get a lot of my music from KEXP, a community station in Seattle that has become the standard for internet radio. The guy who is the driving force behind it, morning DJ and record producer extraordinaire John Richards, sends out a newsletter that I subscribe to. I thought his opening paragraph from yesterday was quite amusing.

Dear God, John here from Seattle. Why do you hate us so much? We're a good people. We're a solid bunch of peaceful folk...granted we had those riots a few years ago but it was for a good cause and really, most the trouble came up from Eugene. Please strike Eugene down with your furious anger (ie bad weather) and not us REI lovin, coffee drinkin, liberal heroin addicts. Sure we seem like a rather agnostic group of people but if what you're saying is go to church more and you won't get destroyed we'll consider it. Granted, it seems like the midwest gets hammered pretty hard..what with the tornados, floods and hail the size of my head and they seem like they're a pretty church goin' group but still, if that's what you want we'll consider it. Or we'll stop with the suicide, drugs and general keeping to ourselves. Or if it's not you and it's mother nature who we need to talk with maybe you could put in a good word with her. Tell her we're sorry...let her know we've been selfish and haven't listened in the past but we'll change, we'll even make her dinner once in a while and won't go out with our buddies as much. Thank you and on behalf of all of mankind, sorry we're destroying the planet, we're idiots...I mean any group of people who allow a show hosted by Howie Mandel to be more popular than...well anything...deserves whatever you dish out.
