CNN passes this off as no big deal, but attacking the internet root servers is huge. Basically, these servers control all the traffic for the internet. Routers ask other routers how to get from one network spot to another, but underneath it all are the 13 root servers that describe where everything is at. Take out these 13 and the whole thing crumbles like a house of cards.
