... what the hell is going on in your head?

Who says there's nothing good to come from unemployment? Unemployment in Britain in the 1970's spawned one whole genre and revived another one. The obvious new genre was punk, but the revived genre was the ska movement most commonly known as the 2-Tone years. While one of my all time favorite bands, The Clash, started from the piss and vinegar punk side of the equation, they ended squarely on the ska side of things. The Beat, or The English Beat as they were known here in the States, were the leaders of the ska edge. Later you may have known their members in such 80's bands like Big Audio Dynamite (with members of the Clash), Fine Young Cannibals, and Madness.
While this incarnation of The English Beat is just a shell of their former self, they are worth a listen, maybe even for just Mirror In The Bathroom.

Loved the English Beat, and thought I was too cool because no one else at my school had heard of them. Ah, youth.
