Air and Car Show With Robert

BBBS sent out an e-mail about an air and car show happening at Parks downtown airport this weekend and since it was free we decided to go check that out. It was supposed to be a regional fly-in, but because the weather was a little overcast, the turnout was light.

We picked Robert up around noon and headed over to St. Louis Bread Company to get lunch. After lunch we drove over to Parks airport. Robert fell asleep in the car on the way there. There were about a dozen Corvette's there, but other than those and the 71 GTO Convertable, 68 Camaro SS, and the hot rod 50 Chevrolet, the car pickings were pretty slim. There were about two dozen airplanes there and a couple of them we were allowed to walk through including an old plane once owned by Howard Hughes. In addition the Channel 4 and Channel 2 helicopters were there. But the fun part was the guys who had the radio control planes. They were doing all kinds of tricks with them that were pretty darn cool. My business partner Arie Kaplan is into this 'sport' and while I have seen his plane (which is about 4 feet long), I've never seen him fly it. Right now Arie is filming a movie so I'm guessing flying RC planes has taken a back burner. Robert, like me, thought the RC planes were pretty darn cool.

The show started closing down around 3:30 so we headed across the river for some ice cream at Crown Candy Kitchen. I had a vanilla malt, Nancy had a chocolate malt, and Robert had a hot fudge sundae. Good times.
