At least it sets the precedent that if you come in and are cooperative, the commissioner's office will be fair. Selig knows he's never getting anywhere in an investigation without the players help.
More importantly, give Giambi some credit. He's the only one who came out and said, 'I took steroids. I know it was wrong'. (yes, other than Jose Conseco, but Jose Conseco is two sandwiches short of his own personal picnic). At least Giambi sucked it up and did the honorable thing. Call it naïve or stupid or whatever you want, but it's the stand up thing to do. He should get some respect for doing that. That's way more than any of the other ones (McGwire, Palmeiro :( , Sosa, Bonds, etc.) have done. We teach our kids to tell the truth and be honest and the first time someone tries to practice that in real life we make fun of him. Here's a real life example where the right thing was done.
So by your logic, I can go out and do the entire Yankee franchise, get NO autographs, immeidately admit what I've done when you ask where I've been, say I'm sorry, and you're good with that.
Good to know.
# Giambi = jailhouse snitch on 30-Aug-2007 at 09:45
This is belated but, Giambi is "Honorable?" So all the jailhouse snitches who commit crimes and get their charges dropped after apologizing and snitching on others must also be "honorable." Making a self-serving confession to save your own ass has not been considered honorable.
Sounds like the logic of a Yankee fan trying to justify Selig's fuck-up post hoc.
Well, if saying you took a plea to get it over but later trying to take it back by saying you were picked on by a newspaper and you were just all stressed out is a defense, then maybe snitching will no longer get you shanked in the chow line.
