The Severed Cortex

Granted the day before yesterday was the first real day in over a week that it hasn't been 100 degrees. It hasn't rained here in weeks and the city posted restricted water usage quite some time ago. There are a couple shady spots in my yard that are still green, but they sure aren't all that tall. My grass is brown for the most part and so is everyone else's in the subdivision. My neighbor still felt some need to mow.
