The barges had been tied to each other at the parking area. Really. The parking area?!
It's called a fleet, moron.
The towboat's impact strained the deck fittings. Wow. I've only seen that happen once. When we smacked a bridge. Somehow, I doubt the deck fittings were 'strained'. Most likely the fleet operator didn't have his barges all that secure and some cowboy line pilot leaned on them a little too hard.
