Another solid deal worked by Cards GM Mozeliak. I would have preferred to see less guaranteed money and more money offered in incentives, but overall not a bad deal. Ankiel is certainly not a proven commodity, but it's pretty obvious he's soaked up a bucket truck full of natural talent. He'll probably hit 20+ dingers, strike out with Bobby Bonds type numbers, and make the occasional Jim Edmonds like catch, but in reality he's mostly a 3rd OF. At some point in his MLB career, someone's going to ask him to pitch an inning in a blowout game because the bullpen is taxed and that alone is worth a couple hundred grand.
