All this dropping bombs on people. Why not drop some bombs on the dance floor instead?
In case you are critically Caucasian like me ... Crunk is the style of music. Crump is the style of dance. Don't get the two mixed up. This is nothing more than L.A. dance/club music drawn heavily from the well of crunk, but still leaning heavily on the club/dance scene. And of course by the time I'm writing this, edIT is old news, especially on the left coast club scene. If it helps, I bought this in early January.
So, you're thinking to yourself ... white guy from suburbia listening to L.A. club music? Don't let the white bread look fool you, I'm O.G. from back in '82. With O.P.P. Ok, I confess. This isn't my normal type of music. I like hip/hop some and I like a fair amount of electronica since it works well while programming and writing. Certified Air Raid Material falls somewhere in between with a definite hard crunk edge. But it has a smart edge too. Each song has about a hundred layers of stuff going on and yet none of it ever seems extraneous. It always feels like edIT put it there for a reason and you're left with no room to argue. Believe it or not, even with all this electronic wizardry, there are parts of the disk that sound circa 1985 courtesy of some sweet cutting and scratching. Man, I really miss that stuff because it seems like no one does that anymore.
Oh, and as if you didn't know, all the songs on here designed to completely blow any set of sub woofers that you might own. If you roll up to a stoplight and the car next to you has the stereo at arena concert level, you can drown them out with this. There are bass lines in here at frequencies even whales can't hear. Looped on 16, of course, and loaded with hooks. I don't want to say all the songs sound the same because they don't, but they do all have that same in your face, heavy bass, looped feel to them, which I find appealing. Start with the title track Certified Air Raid Material and at least listen until the 2:25 mark. You'll either love it like me or you won't.
